Every year, millions of people open their homes to friends and family, hosting events ranging from simple barbecues to sophisticated suppers. If you’re one of those who’ll be having guests over to an event this year, here are a few helpful hints to pull everything off without a hitch

Greet Each Guest.

Things can get hectic, but taking the time to simply meet each guest at the door (preferably with a beverage to offer) is a great way to put everyone immediately at ease.

Keep Things Comfortable.

Depending on the time of year, you may need to heat things up or cool things down to keep guests comfortable. Make sure your A/C or heat is set at a temp that keeps everyone in the sweet spot between being too cold and getting too hot.

Celebrate The Season.

Seasonal décor is a great way to liven up your living space and add festivity to your event. Pastels for Easter, orange and black for Halloween, or good ol’ red, white and blue for Independence Day—the possibilities are endless, just be careful not to overdo it.

Break (Warm) Bread Together.

Keeping warm dishes in a 150°F oven once they’re cooked can not only keep the food itself at the right temperature leading up to the meal, but the now-warmed plates can help keep the food warm during the meal as well.

Plan For All Ages.

Chances are you’ll have everyone from young kids to their grandparents at your event. If that’s the case, make sure to mix your C&H® Sugar into recipes appealing to all of them. Kids love to snack on pastries and pies, where grown-ups are more likely to sip a cup of freshly brewed coffee or go back for seconds of more savory items.
