When it comes to baking, ingredients make all the difference and C&H® sugar has the quality I look for in my recipes. I love the natural nutty, molasses flavor the C&H® Light Brown Sugar lends to my fall desserts and I don't know where I would be without C&H® Bakers' Sugar for my pastries.

Baking Tips to Live By

How to achieve the flakiest pie crust:

Use butter and shortening. Make sure all your ingredients are cold!

How to make bakery-style domed muffins:

Bake them at a high temperature (400° F) so they have a rapid-rise and don't open the oven door during baking!

How to grease a bundt cake pan:

Mix equal parts flour, vegetable oil and shortening to form a paste (I use about 1/4 cup each). Use a pastry brush to coat every nook and cranny of the pan before filling it with batter. The bundt cake comes out of the pan with ease!

How to prevent cracks in a pumpkin pie:

Take the pie out of the oven when the center jiggles when gently shaken. The edges (about 1 1/2 inches from the crust) should be set.

The trick to intensifying the flavor of chocolate:

Add 1 to 2 teaspoons espresso powder to your batter/dough. Espresso brings out the naturally bittersweet flavor of chocolate without making your dessert taste like coffee!
