A powdery sweet cookie with just the right touch of pecans, makes a perfect gift for the holidays

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup C&H® Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 cup C&H® Powdered Sugar (additional for rolling)

Instructions

Cream sugar, butter and salt in large bowl. Add vanilla. Gradually add flour to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Form into 1 1/2-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes until set, but not brown. Roll in confectioners' or powdered sugar immediately. Cool on rack. Store in airtight container.

Discovered these are even better the next day! So I'd suggest making them one day ahead of time for best flavor. Rolled mine into balls and then refrigerated. Pulled from fridge and put straight into the preheated oven. Don't preheat the oven before preparing the cookies as the recipe states. (Why would you leave your oven on 400 for the hour that your cookies are in the fridge?) Wait until just before you are ready to bake them.
